On this page we will look at cards of interest.
Akroma, Angel of Wrath and Hivestone
I am Akroma, a Sliver; you will service us.
They may be very good cards or bad cards or simply be unusual or interesting.
We will also look at interesting combos [short for combinations - two or more different cards that work well together].
Above is a potentially interesting combo [more correctly, the basis for a combo with Sliver cards - click on names for details
of these two cards].
Below are some more examples.
Here is an example to whet your appetite:
Task Force 2W Creature - Rebel 1/3
White Common Mercadian Masques card 52 of 350
Whenever Task Force becomes the target of a spell or ability, it gets +0/+3 until end of turn.
This means it is immune to damage from Cursed Scroll and most red spells and abilities (including Mogg Fanatic).
It also means that if you have a healer that taps to do 1 or 2 healing, that TF effectively becomes toughness 7 or 8,
making it a good blocker of big creatures.
A card with same ability is Angelic Protector from Tempest
3W Angel Uncommon Flying 2/2
A card with a similar ability, except that it protects all creatures of one creature type, is Daru Spiritualist -
1W Creature - Cleric 1/1 White Common from Scourge 5/143
Whenever a Cleric you control becomes the target of a spell or ability, it gets +0/+2 until end of turn.
With the change in the Kor rules to make their ability targeted - this means that these creatures can have their toughness
unlimitedly pumped by a Kor.
This of course combos well with Starlit Sanctum, Animal Boneyard and/or Worthy Cause.
Starlit Sanctum can also, with more difficulty, as a more extended combo, be used with power/toughness switching effects
such as that of Dwarven Thaumaturgist and About Face.
